Mission Valley is a host church with Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley (fpsgv.org) . FPSGV is an inter-faith organization that helps homeless and low income families develop sustainable independence. FPSGV is one of over 150 networks of congregations and volunteers across the United States that will provide the immediate needs for shelter, meals, and comprehensive support services for homeless families.
Mission Valley and the other host churches will rotate to host families for one week every three months. The parent(s) will spend the day at the Day/Resource Center while their children are at school. The parents are assisted by the Family Promise director to find housing and/or employment. The families will eat dinner at Mission Valley and spend the night on our campus. Volunteers are needed to prepare dinner, host the families during the evening hours, sleep at church with the families and help staff the Day/Resource Center during week and weekend.
All volunteers must complete a background check before they can begin serving. You can submit and authorize the background check at http://www.ministryopportunities.org/missionvalleyfmc. The results are strictly confidential and only Pastor Dave Fukuyama will have access to the results.
