Pastor Dave, Grace and Michael joined our family in October 2008. Dave held several different jobs before the pastorate including being a Passenger Service Supervisor for Continental Airlines at LAX. He said of this experience, "working in the secular work force for so many years gave me a good understanding of what people experience which allows me to better empathize with them." Pastor Dave comes to Mission Valley after serving as Senior Associate Pastor at Evergreen Baptist Los Angeles for 16 years. His wife Grace is a physical education teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District and they live in San Gabriel with their son Michael. In his spare time, Pastor Dave serves as one of the Chaplains for the San Gabriel Police Dept. He enjoys cooking, watching the Lakers, salt water fishing, and hanging out with family and friends. He also collects Transformer toy robots and builds plastic ship models.
Pastor Mako graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a B.S. from The Collins College of Hospitality Management. Prior to joining the Mission Valley FMC staff, he was in hotel management for over 8 years (Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Kintetsu, Omni Hotels & Resorts) and has lived in various locations, which includes Palm Desert and Hawaii. Mako shared about his career change, "I believe that God has a plan and prepared me to serve HIM at Mission Valley. I was baptized at Mission Valley and Pastor Dave also officiated my wedding. I love and believe in our church! I feel extremely blessed to be here!" Mako is currently enjoying seminary at Talbot School of Theology. Mako and his wife, Amy, resides in Montebello with their son Jordan. Mako enjoys spending time with his family, watching Seattle Seahawks football, and eating sushi with natto.
Kiki comes to us with years of youth and children’s ministry experience, serving at multiple churches, including PCJC Family Camp, and missions to Kenya & Mexico. Kiki has a passion for people and a heart to serve. She attended UC San Diego and graduated with a double B.A. in Psychology & Religion. Prior to joining the Mission Valley family, Kiki worked at Heavenly Treasures, a non-profit organization equipping and assisting small handicraft businesses in developing countries throughout the world. Kiki and her husband Edel were married this past April and have been enjoying this new journey in their lives. When she's not at church, Kiki enjoys spending time with her husband Edel, serving on missions, going to Disneyland, watching fireworks, dark chocolate, going to the beach, and hanging out with her nephews!
