Dave Fukuyama
Senior Pastor
Pastor Dave Fukuyama comes to Mission Valley after serving as senior associate pastor at Evergreen Baptist Los Angeles for the past 14 years. Pastor Dave, Grace and Michael joined our family in October 2008.
Pastor Dave held several different jobs before the pastorate. His jobs included quality control supervisor for a carpet manufacturer, director of marketing for an international airline and a passenger service supervisor for Continental Airlines. He said of this experience, "working in the secular work force for so many years gave me a good understanding of what people experience which allows me to better empathize with them."
His wife Grace is a physical education teacher for LA Unified School District and they live in San Gabriel with their son Michael.
In his spare time, Pastor Dave enjoys cooking, watching the Lakers and fresh water fishing with family and friends. He also collects Transformer toy robots and other collectibles.
Stan Nishikubo
Assistant Pastor
Stan graduated from UCLA with a degree in Business Economics and received a Masters Degree from Biola in Christian Apologetics. The goal of the Spiritual Formation Director is, to paraphrase the apostle Paul in Colossians 1:28, to present each person complete in Christ. Complete in Christ includes three elements, truth, inner healing, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Stan would like to be able to say, like the apostle Paul, that he did his best with the energy God has so generously given him. Stan has been married to his beautiful wife, Sandy, for 27 years and they have watched their two children, Valerie and Julie, enter young adulthood.
Koji Carl Omaye
Associate Pastor
Carl has been a pastor for 40 years. His primary ministry is to the seniors. Pastor Carl is a graduate of Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. His passion in ministry is marriage enrichment. He also loves computers and all things high tech. Recreationally his first love is golf which he enjoys with his wife Pat. Carl and Pat became grandparents last year when their son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Darlene, had Michael Koji.
David Gaulton
Director of Worship
& Young Adult Ministry
David has been serving at MV as the Director of Worship and Young Adults since June of 2006. He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University where he earned a bachelors degree in Commercial Music. David has a passion to minister to the world through his gifting of songwriting and worship leading. He has produced two worship albums, Meditations of My Heart and his most recent release You Are Amazing. His heart is to see others experience true encounters with God that move them to see God’s Kingdom realized. David loves to play basketball, but mostly loves to relax and spend time with his wife Leah.
Emi Konuma
Director of Children's & Family
Ministry
Emi has been working part time since June 2006 as our Children’s and Family Ministry Director. She enjoys working with children and their families and is looking forward to planning and initiating various activities that will create a chance to build friendships and spiritual growth. Emi graduated from Azusa Pacific University with two Master’s Degrees. One was in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy and the other was in Pastoral Studies. Emi is a marriage and family therapist intern.
She has a variety of experiences working with children, parents and families. Emi loves anything to do with outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing, etc. Some of her favorite hobbies are jewelry making, oil & water painting and especially cooking all kinds of different goods.
