Dave Fukuyama  - Senior Pastor

Pastor Dave comes to Mission Valley after serving as Senior Associate Pastor at Evergreen Baptist Los Angeles for the past 14 years. Pastor Dave, Grace and Michael joined our family in October 2008. He held several different jobs before the pastorate including Quality Control Supervisor for a carpet manufacturer, Director of Marketing for an international airline and Passenger Service Supervisor for Continental Airlines. He said of this experience, "working in the secular work force for so many years gave me a good understanding of what people experience which allows me to better empathize with them." His wife Grace is a physical education teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District and they live in San Gabriel with their son Michael. In his spare time, Pastor Dave enjoys cooking, watching the Lakers and fresh water fishing with family and friends. He also collects Transformer toy robots and other collectibles.

  Stan Nishikubo - Assistant Pastor

Stan graduated from UCLA with a degree in Business Economics and received a Masters Degree from Biola in Christian Apologetics. Also serving as our Spiritual Formation Director his goal is, to paraphrase the apostle Paul in Colossians 1:28, to present each person complete in Christ. Complete in Christ includes three elements, truth, inner healing, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Stan would like to be able to say, like the apostle Paul, that he did his best with the energy God has so generously given him. Stan has been married to his beautiful wife, Sandy, for 27 years and they have watched their two children, Valerie and Julie, enter young adulthood.

  David Gaulton - Director of Worship

David has been serving at MV as the Director of Worship since June of 2006. He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Commercial Music. David has a passion to minister to the world through his gifting of songwriting and worship leading. He has produced several worship albums including Meditations of My Heart and You Are Amazing. His heart is to see others experience true encounters with God that move them to see God’s Kingdom realized. David loves to play basketball, but mostly loves to relax and spend time with his wife Leah.

  Phil Sakanashi - Director of Youth

Phil is excited to work with our youth and has a real passion to see students changed by the love of Christ. He brings with him years of experience as a youth intern at the New Life Church, Youth Director at Peninsula Free Methodist Church and as our Youth Director since 2009. He has also been serving this past year as a Local Ministerial Candidate as he prepares to go into the pastorate. Graduating this summer from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelors degree in Science for Organizational Leadership, he plans to enter into APU's seminary program. Phil has been married to his beautiful wife Caroline for the past seven years and they have two adorable children, Kara and Kai. In his spare time, Phil enjoys surfing, playing basketball, going to the gym, working on cars or simply watching a good game on tv.

    Karie Nambu-Moore - Children's Ministry Director

Karie received Master Degrees from UCLA and Loyola-Marymount, recently completing her Doctorate Degree in Education. She worked for 34 years for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), first as a teacher, then as a school psychologist and lastly as an administrator for psychological services. Currently she serves as our Children’s Ministry Director and teaches two classes at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills. Karie loves to scrapbook, sew, craft, make home improvements, travel and read. Now retired, she enjoys having more time to do these activities and to serve the Lord. Karie grew up in Torrance where she still resides. Her son, a high school counselor, and her daughter-in-law, a physician assistant, have blessed Karie with granddaughter Aundrea. Her daughter is an arts-dance teacher for LAUSD.
